Davidson Architecture + Engineering (DA+E) is proud to celebrate the recognition of the 8180 Cole project in Shawnee, Kansas, honored with the DBIA Small Commercial Award. This achievement reflects the strength of true collaboration and the dedication of an exceptional project team. We extend our gratitude to our valued partners, JDG Construction (GC), Stand Structural Engineers (Structural), and EBS (MEP), whose expertise and commitment played a pivotal role in bringing this project back to life.

From Total Loss to Total Transformation

What began as a devastating fire that resulted in a complete loss of the original structure ultimately became an opportunity to reimagine and rebuild. DA+E was brought in to lead the architectural vision for a new facility. One that honored the past while delivering improved functionality, aesthetics, and longevity.

The rebuilt structure stands as a testament to resilience. The project includes:

• A fully modernized exterior that enhances curb appeal and long-term durability

• Updated interior aesthetics designed to support efficient daily operations

• A refreshed office environment seamlessly integrated with warehouse and storage functions

Reconstruction projects often call for an elevated level of coordination, and this one was no exception. Working in the Design-Build model meant that communication, clarity, and shared problem-solving were essential at every stage.
