Redevelopment of the currently barren 63 acre Metcalf South and 95 West shopping centers, located in Overland Park, Kansas, focuses on recreating the area into a bustling “Central Square.” The reestablishment of the approximate 500,000 square feet space will include a mix of restaurants, retail, and entertainment space while the remaining 56,000 square feet of the property will be transformed into offices and luxury apartments.
DA+E will assist in the project by heading up the site-planning process, while following the overall project theme of “serving everyday needs of customers.
ANTIOCH CROSSING
KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI
DA+E collaborated with Antioch Redevelopment Partners to provide master planning and civil engineering services for the mixed use redevelopment of the Antioch Center Mall in Kansas City, Missouri.
The redevelopment of the mall addressed downstream flooding, as well as storm water quality issues. DA+E was challenged by the runoff timing of areas tributary to the mall system, and the timing of the nearby Mill Creek, causing preliminary proposed improvements to evolve with the changing environment.

DA+E collaborated with the Lane4 Property Group to provide master planning and civil engineering services for the redevelopment of the former Kansas City Steel Superfund site in Kansas City, Kansas. Nothing about the Argentine basin watershed is straightforward. The area lies within flood areas that are protected by the Kansas River Levee, however, it is known by local residents that the area floods. Combined sewer outflows, pump stations, and very old infrastructure complicated the characteristics considerably.Working closely with the Unified Government and their consultants, Davidson A+E remodeled the entire Argentine watershed (inside the levee) with HEC-HMS, including pump stations and various outfalls.

The City of Mission, Kansas, in conjunction with their planned east end mall redevelopment project adopted a form-based code in 2007. DA+E designed the Mission Crossing development in compliance with the code, including head-in street parking, street and pedestrian lighting, sidewalks, landscape and amenity improvements. Once again, the DA+E civil group worked with DA+E’s architects to overcome grades with vertical improvements that are attractive, functional and low maintenance.

Gateway Commons is a mixed use development located at the northeast corner of the 150 & 71 Highway intersection in Grandview, Missouri. DA+E was responsible for master planning, civil engineering and architectural services. Clear, concise and accurate engineering calculations were required for the site which is located on a floodway and floodplain. By incorporating these calculations with the master plan grading, a multi-use space was created. DA+E worked with Gateway Commons, LLC, Holland Corporation and its subcontractors to make this design build concept project a success.
